Cuts. Layers. Shared Space.
The exhibition title borrows the film term crosscut, a technique of interweaving parallel scenes to reveal relationships between different perspectives, spaces, and narratives. In this spirit, Crosscut brings together artists from Gothenburg and Novi Sad – two dynamic contemporary art scenes that, as non-capital cultural centres, often remain outside dominant institutional and media narratives.
By placing diverse artistic positions in conversation, the exhibition explores intersections of geography, generation, gender, and artistic language. Working across a range of media and approaches, the participating artists create a shared space where different experiences and contexts meet, overlap, and resonate.
Through exchange and mobility, Crosscut not only presents existing works but also fosters the development of new artistic responses shaped by encounters with different cultural and social environments. Rather than reinforcing distinctions between centre and periphery, the exhibition proposes a network of connections, exchanges, and shared visibility that emerges through artistic collaboration.
